Controlling of Stunting: A Research Review

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries with the third highest prevalence of stunting  in the South-East Asian Region after Timor Leste and India (Teja, 2019). The prevalence of stunting  in Indonesia based on Riskesdas increased from 2007 (36.8%) to 34.6% (2010); and 37.2% (2013); then decreased to 30.8% (2018). This paper reviews the problem of stunting  in children in Indonesia descriptively. This study is a review of 10 research results on stunting  conducted in early 2021. A total of 8 articles published in 2019, one article published in 2015 and one article in 2021. In the first stage, the number of samples, methods and research results from journals will be presented. the journal. The second stage, if there are similar tables, it will be analyzed using the average results from these tables. Furthermore, for the results that there are no comparisons, a summary of the research results that have not been analyzed is carried out. A total of seven research articles used the case control method and three articles used the cross sectional method. Based on gender, stunting  was higher in female toddlers than male toddlers, the most cases were at the age of 37-48 months, the majority of stunting  toddlers had an infection. Stunting  toddlers also have an incomplete immunization history. The history of LBW is only 40.5% in the incidence of stunting  and toddlers who do not receive exclusive breastfeeding and experience stunting  are only 20%. Of the variables related to stunting , there are five variables related to nutritional problems, namely LBW, nutritional status, diet, exclusive breastfeeding, and nutritional intake. One related to infectious diseases, one related to delayed development of toddlers, and one other variable related to the role of the mother of the toddler.
