Abstract
Stunting is the condition of a person's height less than the standard deficiency that has been set which can result in long and short-term effects on child growth and development. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between the history of chronic energy deficiency among mothers and compliance with taking blood supplement tablets with the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 2-5 years. The method uses a retrospective design. The sampling technique was a non-probability method, with a total sample of 59 toddlers aged 2-5 years at the Tamamaung health center, data collection using questionnaires and KIA books.
The results of the study are based on the chi square test of 59 respondents obtained a value of P = 0.002 (<0.05) indicating there is a significant relationship between the history of chronic energy deficiency with the incidence of stunting and a value of P = 0.003 (<0.05) indicating there is a significant relationship between compliance with taking blood supplement tablets with the incidence of stunting. Conclusion: History of chronic energy deficiency and adherence to taking blood supplement tablets are associated with the incidence of stunting in children. Suggestion: It is hoped that future researchers will examine other factors related to the incidence of stunting such as family economic factors and MP breastfeeding.
