Relationship Between Work Shift and Fatigue Level of Nurses in the Emergency Room at Budhi Asih Hospital, East Jakarta

Working as a nurse cannot be separated from work shifts, each hospital has different work shifts, irregular work schedule shifts can cause fatigue in the workforce. Every year there are more than 250 million accidents at work and more than 160 million workers become sick because of hazards at work, and 1.2 million die due to work accidents due to fatigue. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of work shifts with nurses working fatigue in the Emergency Room Installation at Budhi Asih Hospital, East Jakarta. The study was conducted in the period April to August 2019. This research method uses descriptive analytic with cross sectional design. Sampling in total sampling with a total of 30 nurse respondents. Chi-square test results obtained a p-value of 0.010 <0.05, meaning that there is a significant relationship between work shifts with work fatigue of nurses in the Emergency Room at Budhi Asih Hospital, East Jakarta. Odds Ratio (OR) Results 11,000 (1,998-60,572) 95% CI. Hospitals need to compensate for the distribution of work shifts with rest periods and proportional scheduling of work shifts.
