Diagnostic Test of Widal Serology Test Compared to Tubex Tf Test as Gold Standard for Diagnosis of Typhoid Fever in Primera Clinica Laboratory

Abstract

Typhoid fever is still a health problem in Indonesia that arises sporadically endemic and found throughout the year. Clinical diagnosis of typhoid fever is difficult to enforce because the clinical manifestations are not typical, so laboratory tests are needed to enforce the diagnosis. Widal test is a serological supporting examination which still often proposed by clinicians until now. Tubex TF is a new supporting test of typhoid fever. The purpose of this study is to prove the validity and reliability of the Widal serological test compared to Tubex TF test as a gold standard for diagnosis of Typhoid Fever in Primera Clinica Laboratory. This study used data from 50 patients with all ages who were suspected of having typhoid fever in Primera Clinica Laboratory from May to September 2017. Based on research Tubex TF sensitivity 50% (Widal 9%), specificity 56.52% (7%), Agreement 56% (56%), Prevalence 8% (44%), Kappa 0.02, NPV 9% (50%), PPV 92% (56.52%), LHR+ 1.14 (3), LHR-0.88 (0.14). The results of Tubex TF accuracy is better than Widal serology test to enforce diagnose of typhoid fever.
